Kenya Tourism has announced that it will move to an electronic visa system in 2024, with the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system in the process of development and implementation.

The digital platform will ensure that all travellers to Kenya are identified in advance. All travellers coming to Kenya from countries that require visas shall continue applying for visas in the usual

manner until the government communicates the change program to ETA system.

As part of the new eTA system, all travellers needed to pay a US$30 processing fee. Currently, citizens from 51 countries enjoy visa-free entry to Kenya, while travellers from 155 other countries are subject to a visa application process at a cost of USD$50.
